PhoenixAlScottonDuring the busy holiday season, we encourage you to take a break for art.

We are happy and proud to present a very special art exhibition in partnership with Burlington City Arts, the organization that collaborates with us on our wonderful “Art From the Heart” program. The “Art From the Heart” exhibition will be on view in the City Hall Gallery in Burlington. It will feature patient and volunteer art, information, and photos. It will run through January 2, 2015.

Works on view include Phoenix by Al Scotton, a volunteer artist, and Rainbow Falls, by Jayden, 6, a recent patient at The University of Vermont Children’s Hospital.

Art from the Heart provides a friendly, supportive and creative environment for hospitalized children and their caregivers. Every day hospital spaces are transformed into temporary art studios by caring volunteers. Dreams are found and expressed with materials, ideas and devoted time. Creativity nurtures connection and imagination. Worlds open to a place where anything is possible. Artistic improvisation with color, imagery, writing, music, movement and metaphor invites feelings of relief, escape, inspiration, and hope.

FullSizeRenderSince 1994, Art from the Heart has been supporting a wholehearted community helping children, families and caregivers feel better through art.

Art from the Heart is always looking for volunteers who have compassion, creativity, and love working with children. Artistic interest is important, but experience is not necessary. If you’d like to volunteer, please fill out an adult volunteer application. Our volunteer office will contact you once they receive a completed application to get you started.
