I am delighted to be a part of the new UVM Medical Center Dental and Oral Health Care facility opening today. I feel fortunate to be here at an exciting time as we open our doors to dental patients.
the University of Vermont Medical Center has a strong commitment to serving the dental needs of Vermonters. I am deeply impressed by the genuine passion, expertise, kindness, and helpfulness of my colleagues who have been involved in the formation and development of the new office.
The new facility, located in South Burlington, is state-of-the-art, with the highest standards for patient safety and infection control. It is also a beautiful space in a peaceful setting, with calming views of the Green Mountains.
What can patients expect at our new dental facility?
Interdisciplinary Medical and Dental Care
- Patients with complex medical conditions can rely on us for their dental treatment. We will work in collaboration with medical specialists to ensure that safe, individualized treatment is delivered. Examples of patients who will benefit are: pregnant women, patients with diabetes, patients with compromised immune systems, patients in various stages of organ transplantation, and more.
- Patients with complex dental needs will have the opportunity to work with area specialists on-site to receive multidisciplinary treatment. We have the following specialty areas available: Oral Surgery (extractions, implants), Endodontics (root canal treatments), Periodontics (gum surgery), Prosthodontics (crown and bridge work; implant restorations; removable partial and complete dentures), Pediatric Dentistry, and Orthodontics (braces, space maintainers). This allows for the majority of the work to be done on-site with support from talented and experienced specialists.
Commitment to Teaching and Service
The Dental General Practice Residency Program has been with the University of Vermont and the UVM Medical Center for more than 50 years. This program attracts outstanding new dentists and serves as a primary recruitment tool for dentists to the state of Vermont. Together in collaboration with general dentists and specialists, the program serves the dental needs of all Vermonters and helps to improve access to dental care.
Urgent Care Appointments Available
Rather than going to the Emergency Department for dental pain, patients can come directly to our office for the appropriate care. We are setting aside time for emergencies every day.
Routine Prevention and Maintenance
We have hygiene appointments, regular exams, initial exams for toddlers to encourage healthy habits, fluoride varnish treatments, sealants, and more.
This is an excellent opportunity to start as a new patient in a lovely facility with a superb team of caring and knowledgeable dental providers. We have your overall and oral health in mind with everything we do, and we look forward to caring for you.
